The Breeders Award Program is one that promotes the keeping and  breeding of aquarium fish and encourages research into the spawning habits of the more difficult species of fish. It reports the successful spawning techniques which is then  published in our bi-monthly publication.

 8 fry are brought into the general meeting for verification and a spawning report is  completed. The fry must be between 60 and  120 days old OR under special circumstances a member of the  committee may verify a spawning by a visit to the spawning site.

 The BAP participant must also complete one of the following:

  •  Write and submit an article for publication in The Wet Thumb describing the spawning, care of parents, eggs, fry, etc.

  •  Donate 8 fry of any sex or 2 sexable pairs to the CAS auction at a general meeting. The fry must be between 60 and 120 days old.

 Awards:

  • Certificate of Achievement -recognizes the successful completion of the requirements of a  particular species. A plaque is presented to recognize the successful completion of a particular  class.

  • Specialist Achievement - recognizes the successful completion of the requirements for a  particular species. A plaque is presented to recognizing the successful completion of a particular  class.

  • Master Breeder - a plaque recognizing the successful completion of requirements for Master  Breeder. A lifetime membership is awarded.  

  • Chairperson's Award - a special award may be presented to recognize a spawning or other  accomplishment.
